The end of our morning post?: Fears Royal Mail's plans could delay deliveries

BUSINESS leaders have expressed their dismay at plans that could see daily postal deliveries across Lincolnshire delayed.
Royal Mail has revealed plans to "reorganise delivery routes" for LN postcodes, which could mean county customers receive their deliveries "a little later than they're used to".
But it is feared these changes could prevent companies and residents from getting their morning post until the afternoon.
Michael Self, Federation Of Small Businesses regional organiser for Lincolnshire, said any delays were not good news.
He said: "Early morning postal deliveries are essential for business and delays are in nobody's interest.
"Over the past few years, Royal Mail has been stretching out delivery times, so some people already don't get their post until the afternoon.
"If this is just a case of delivery times changing from 9am to 10.30am then it wouldn't be a problem, but I suspect it will be a move to more like noon or 1pm."
Royal Mail spokesman Marie Gray said that, as with any changes, there would be a "bedding-in period". But she said the company would strive to ensure customers still received the same level of service they had come to expect.
She said: "We are implementing new machines to better sort mail down to individual delivery rounds across the country as part of an ongoing investment and modernisation programme.
"This is part of a business-wide investment and modernisation programme in which Royal Mail is spending more than £2 billion on the introduction of new technology and equipment and upgraded operational facilities."

Re: The end of our morning post?
Marie is telling porkies.
Because Royal Mail can't be arsed to change a workplan designed by people who do anything but work, everybody's post will get delivered later than at present, both domestic and business customers will experience a poorer level of service until Royal Mail do make changes to the workplan we all have to suffer.
Bedding in period, my arse.
