Post Office says sorry over delivery bungles

A BUNGLING postal worker delivered the same four letters to the wrong address two days running.

Antonio Correia (44) took the misdelivered mail to Lynn’s Austin Fields sorting office after receiving it the first time but the next day the same letters, plus another also addressed to his neighbour, were pushed through his letter box again.

Mr Correia said: “It’s so frustrating.”

The blunder was the latest in a string of problems Mr Correia has suffered both in receiving mail intended for someone else and not getting his own letters. On two occasions in the past 18 months he has gone to pay for things on his debit card only to discover it has been cancelled by his bank because they have issued new ones that he never received and he has had final demands from his water and electricity suppliers having never got the initial bill.

It is becoming regular for Mr Correia and his partner Julia Da Costa (41) to arrive home to find mail on their doormat for neighbouring businesses and private homes, despite everyone having their door numbers clearly displayed.

Mr Correia and Ms Da Costa even got one letter clearly addressed to the White Horse pub, which is opposite their home in Wootton Road, Lynn. In the last two weeks they have received nine letters not addressed to them.

Night worker at Sutton Bridge factory Bakkavor Mr Correia has stayed up to go to the sorting office to complain on three separate occasions.

Mr Correia said: “I’m concerned because my mum passed away and I’m expecting mail from my lawyer and I’m worried important documents could go to someone else.”

A Post Office spokesman said: “We apologise to the customer and will make sure this gets rectified.”

Well OK the PO apologised but its nothing to do with them Unless of course PO and RM "Spokespeople" are absorbing each others duties.

Odds on it is a round that is either being covered on Lapsing, or with a different delivery person each week.

This happened to an ex colleague of mine after he retired from RM a few years back and stopped delivering to his own house and it became a Relief Delivery. His road had the same name as a drive 1/4 mile away and his mail would go to the drive, or he would get the mail from the drive! After numerous complaints he had a red A4 laminated card put in his slot - unfortunately it kept getting pulled out of the slot and laid flat on the top of the frame! He even had it delivered to his house with some magazines one day

Thankfully the round finally got a permanent postie eventually, otherwise I think his blood pressure would have killed him (and he's since moved anyway)
