Postcomm update - Joint statement from BIS, Postcomm and Ofcom - Postal Services Bill

Following publication of the Postal Services Bill by the Government, this statement sets out how both Postcomm and Ofcom will carry out their respective roles before and after regulatory responsibility for the postal sector transfers to Ofcom. Postcomm and Ofcom will work together both to secure a smooth transition with minimal disruption for industry, users and staff and also to progress ongoing work to change the current regulatory framework prior to and following Royal Assent of the new Bill.

So, basically, what they are saying is once we are privatised they will change the DSA price so that RM are not losing money on every DSA item they deliver.

That looks like the long tall and short of it Broxi.A shame you couldnt have got odds on it as we would be picking up a few quid from the bookies.I liked the way postcomm just accepted that ofcom were taking them over.Oh ok then not a single argument

Ironically it would appear that competitor companies actually want RM to be given so-called headroom .As long as we struggle along and maintain the uso ,they maintain us ,the posties to deliver their leech mail.Indeed they support price increases to the poor taxpayer via an increase in stamps for joe public to help sustain the uso.Of course postcon have produced recommendations to increase the headroom and the price of stamps to the public.Nothing postcon does appears to support the public or the postie.

The Government should make it obligatory that all postal providers/carriers should adhere to the USO agreement. They have all had enough time now to put their houses in order and have just decided not to, and just cream off RM. See how many are left if it was an equal playing field, i would say none. None of our so called competitors have the money, or the infrastructure needed to truly compete with RM.
