First class pulling power for Royal Mail Ballymoney

IT WAS another first class performance from the staff at the Royal Mail sorting office in Ballymoney as they pulled out all the stops for charity at the weekend.

Staff pulled a post office van around the streets of Ballymoney to raise cash for Cancer Research NI.

It is the fourth year of the event and they collected almost £2,500 - up on last year's total of £2,000.

Members of staff pulled the van from their base at High Street down Main Street and along Meetinghouse Street as far as the Rodeing Foot roundabout and up Queen Street onto Victoria Street and up to the Northern Regional College before going down High Street to the Town Clock and back round to the office via Church Street, Victoria Street and Linenhall Street.

The strongmen collected money along the way and are very appreciative to everyone in Ballymoney for giving so generously to their efforts. In total almost £2500 was collected bringing the cumulative amount collected for the charity, over the past four years, to over £10,000.

Sammy Graham, Manager, Ballymoney Delivery Office who helped with the pull, said: "A tremendous amount of time and effort has gone on behind the scenes to organise this event and I would like to thank my Royal Mail colleagues who make up the Ballymoney Community Action Team for their commitment in their aim to make this event a success.

"It was a fantastic day and, on behalf of the Team. I would like to thank the people of Ballymoney and passing motorists for giving so freely and generously."
