Man accused of stealing £150,000 from post office

A man has appeared in court accused of stealing almost £150,000 from a County Tyrone post office.

Bryan Rex Grindy, 42, from Bryson Square in Newtownabbey, is alleged to have stolen £149,293 from Coalisland post office in January.

He was also accused of impersonating a police officer.

Mr Grindy was refused bail at Dungannonn Magistrates Court on Wednesday. He will appear in court again in September.

Yes, and in his defence it was claimed that the cost of commuting 570 miles a week lead to financial difficulties ending with him stealing the £149,293 If only he had lived on the premises this man of previous good character would have kept his good name. With such mitigating circumstances the judge gave him a slap on the wrist and told him not to do it again.
