Derry Post Office to close

A Waterside Post Office is to close, it has been confirmed.

The Post Office says it is to go ahead with plans to close Lisnagelvin Post Office branch and merge it with the new Ebrington branch located in the Eurospar convenience store, Rossdowney Park.

The closure follows a six week public consultation on Post Office provision in the Waterside area of Derry.

Sheila McCann, Network Development Manager for Post Office Ltd, said: "We want to make sure that Post Office branches in this part of Derry have enough customers to survive in the competitive market we operate in and that local people can continue to access Post Office services well into the future.

"I am confident that the decision to close Lisnagelvin Post Office and run a combined service with the Ebrington branch is the right course of action and that it will help safeguard provision in the longer term."

The Post Office says it will announce an exact date for the Lisnagelvin branch's closure in "due course"
