Blaze hits mail deliveries in Kippax and Methley

A RAGING inferno at a waste depot in Garforth will affect mail deliveries in Kippax and Methley.

More than 150 firefighters battled the blaze at the WasteCare site - adjacent to the Royal Mail Garforth delivery office - on Thursday morning.

Police say the mail depot has been temporarily closed, but deliveries will be made to all address in the LS25 and LS26 postal areas from a different sorting office.

Garforth Delivery Office (LS25-26)

Following yesterday's incident, and the effects of a serious fire at an adjacent building, Garforth Delivery Office is still inaccessible to our staff. Alternative delivery arrangements will be implemented today from a nearby alternative office and we will attempt to make a delivery to all addresses in LS25-26. We will return to our premesis at Garforth as soon as it is safe to do so, but this is not expected before Monday.

Deliveries of mail

Normal deliveries should be made in all other parts of the North today, Friday 2 July.

Posting & collection of mail

We expect to make normal collections from all Post Office® branches, business customers and post boxes in the region today, Friday 2 July.
