MORE than 150 posties said they were bitten by dogs while working in North and Mid Wales last year.

The 153 attacks resulted in 242 days sick absence across the region, Royal Mail said.

The Wrexham area had world cup jerseys 2010 the highest number of attacks with 18 postmen and women bitten while delivering letters last year.

But not all the attacks were reported to police. North Wales officers revealed they had dealt with 27 serious incidents involving dog bites in the 12 months up to this March.

Alfie James, Royal Mail North Wales manager, said: “We have recently had several incidents where postmen have been bitten by dogs while out on their delivery round. We have also had a few near misses, including postmen injuring themselves while trying to get away from a barking dog.”

Managers are to highlight the problems faced by postmen after a successful trial in parts of North Wales.

Mr James added: “We have an ongoing initiative, working with local dog wardens in Conwy and Denbighshire, to try and highlight the problems our postmen face when out delivering mail.”

I have found the best way to avoid dog attacks is to piss in the dog's garden. Mark the territory - it is the only language a dog understands.
Let it know who the territory belongs to and they stay away.
Obviously you can't piss in every garden evry day so it helps to carry around a big bottle of urine and pour a bit in each garden as you go.
Once I forgot the bottle of pee so I bought a big bottle of Tizer. It was just as effective.

Customers dog chased me, to try to bite me, but I avoided it by running onto a busy road.
Luckily no cars around or I wudda been pancaked!
Dog has also chased/gone for additional posties too.

Now, owner states I'm "a Liar and Fraudulent Opportunist" . Simp/Mill on the case.

One can only presume then brother Thunderthighs that you will be diligently seeking written statements from these other additional posties thereby backing up your claim that this dog has previously shown a dangerous propensity for attacking postmen and putting pay to the dog's owner that you are in their words "a Liar and Fraudulent Opportunist".

Yep, other posties are willing to support experiencing this mutts bad behaviour.

Box was fixed to outside wall coz her dog kept tearing up mail, and she actually requested us to not use their doors letter box due to her "little darling."

Post-attack, dog was lose on different occasion and went "nuts" towards postie and off-duty policeman too, giving them a fright.

So, I hope all evidence will support the facts... That the dog is aggressive, and potentially dangerous.

And... I was having lunch with Scarlett Johannsen yesterday, but then, I am a LIAR, apparently!!!!

Good News: Last week, RM have made an "offer" for dog attack injury...2nd case still pending.
Bad News: Doing other posties round today, putting mail thro box, and dog grabbed it violently, pulling me off balance into the door.

Hurt shoulder and groin - again - so off with AOD. Taking anti-inflams/painkillers.
(Think I'm turning into a pill junkie!)
Manager out on return, so completed ERICA with Supervisor. Left mssg I'd be off few days.

Then, get call few hrs later at home, manager...
Explained the full facts/situation, and then I was "Told" to be in work at 8am Monday, to meet some "people"... No explanation given.
Replied, too painful to drive, asked them to visit me at home. ( I'll put the kettle on!) Arranging to see GP next week.
So awaiting visit by person/persons Unknown...

NOTE: I have been advised by CWU Legal Dept, to apply to DWP for their Disability Assessment as this is the 3rd or 4th similar injury.
Anyone know what this entails? Is it worth it?

Brother Thunderthighs it is only really good news if the offer made by RM is acceptable to you in it's entirety, and with regards to your recent AOD for which you are currently off with, no doubt you are well versed in that an over three day injury will have to be reported via RIDDOR by your management team. Perhaps that is why your manager is hastely wanting you to make a quick return on Monday.

Claim that is "sorted" was RM's fault, no H and S info etc. Cheque for under 2 grand awaited.
2nd one, private dog owner, contesting her "little darling" was even aggressive! Still awaiting outcome. Not too confident...

Had slip on ice Jan/Feb and now this lates doggy thing. ( Am I jinxed/doooomed?! ) I lOVE dogs, got 3. Whey don't they like me? I'M LOVEABLE, lol!
Noticed when Supervisor filled in ERICA, PC flagged up that this injury NEED NOT be reported via RIDDOR.
How does the PC know how long I'd be off, or is this a Default system cutting in.

More concerned bout the "I've got people coming in next week" comment by Manager, even said something similar to Union Rep, but a bit vague.
So, I've invited them to mine tomorrow, Mrs buying nice biscuits in Morrisons now...

So, GP's appt to be made. more bloody Tramadol - got more drugs in me than Jacko - have to watch the Half Wages thing too, and as I got a Stage One,
I'm assuming this latest AOD won't lead to a Stage 2 as it's within the 6 months etc, but aren't AOD sort of exempt?
