The Royal Mail Workers’ Union has opposed the payment of an amount worth £2.5 million to company’s former Chief Executive Adam Crozier for his performance in the last one year, wherein the service was affected by an industrial spat.

Adam received a bonus worth £1.5m and a salary of £633,000 as a supplement of the pension amount worth £206,000. In addition, he received £19,000 in added benefits ahead of his joining at ITV.

His net benefit package amounted to £2.42m under the financial year ending March 2010.

Over the last one year, several strikes occurred over the changes that paved the way for a modernization plan. As a result of these protests, Royal Mail happened to miss the chief targets.

Dave Ward, Deputy General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union, said that there is a possibility of an outrage to creep up among postal workers due to the salary and bonus amount for Adam.

“Adam Crozier’s bonus came after a year in which he oversaw a national postal strike, lost the confidence of his workforce and then left before the job of modernization was completed,” he added.
