Tenby postie presented Royal Mail First Class Award by One Show presenter Christine Bleakley

A Pembrokeshire postie met TV darling, Christine Bleakley, yesterday (Monday) when he was presented with a Royal Mail First Class Award for his fundraising efforts.

Chris Williams of Saundersfoot won the title of Wales' best postman for his first class service and his charity work.

Yesterday he attended a closely fought final, going head to head with nine other finalists for the title of Britain's best postman.

Although Chris, aged 39, narrowly missed the title he was awarded with his Welsh title by BBC's The One Show presenter, Christine.

Chris has been based at Tenby post office for 15 years. He is a stalwart member of Saundersfoot Festivities, which organises the village's New Year's Day swim.

In the event's 26-year history he has never missed a dip and has personally raised more than £46,000.

Said Geoff Braden, Royal Mail's regional operations director for Wales: "These Welsh winners represent just a few of the thousands of 'first class' people working for Royal Mail, whose role in the community makes a real difference to people's lives."
