Saundersfoot postman in national final of Royal Mail's First Class Awards

A Pembrokeshire postie is in with he chance of winning £2,000 family holiday, plus spending money, in the national final of Royal Mail's First Class Awards today (Monday).

Chris Williams of Saundersfoot has won the title of Wales' best postman for his first class service and his charity work.

Chris, aged 39, a postman based at the Tenby office for 15 years, is a stalwart member of Saundersfoot Festivities, which organises the village's New Year's Day swim.

He has never missed a dip in the event's 26-year history and has personally raised more than £46,000 in the process.

Chris won £100 for being among the ten posties short-listed in the Welsh section of the Royal Mail First Class Awards 2010.

It was announced last week that he had been chosen as one of Wales' three winners. Today (Monday ) he will go head to head with Britain's best in the national finals.

Said Geoff Braden, Royal Mail's regional operations director for Wales: "These Welsh winners represent just a few of the thousands of 'first class' people working for Royal Mail, whose role in the community makes a real difference to people's lives."
