SPARE a thought for these two kind-hearted posties.
Royal Mail colleagues Chris Hayes and Allan Greenwood delivered post to hundreds of Ashton homes wearing shorts, during one of the coldest winters on record, to raise cash for charity,
Chris and Allan raised £3,700 for the Northern Cleft Foundation, who travel to India to operate on children and adults with cleft lip and palate deformities.
The pair presented a cheque to Consultant Anaesthetist Gill Field, Consultant Anaesthetist Pattabiramam Venkataraman and nurses Elaine Gate and Chris Barton.
Chris, of Whitley Crescent, Wigan, has been a postman for 17 years and delivers to around 570 homes.
He said: “It’s been tough because the winter was so cold. But I’d like to thank all the people who have sponsored us because we couldn’t do it without them.”
Chris and Allan have raised more than £14,000 for charity in the four years they have taken part in the stunt.
The posties who wear shorts all winter to rasie money for charity presented their cheque to hospital staff.
