MALVERN postman Chris Grubb will be delivering more than £450 to St Richard’s Hospice after successfully completing the Liverpool Half Marathon.
After completing the 13-mile course in a time of one hour and 27 minutes - placing him 118th out of 5,500 competitors - Mr Grubb has pledged to keep on running for the hospice.
He plans to run another half marathon in June and will be organising a skittles evening after the event at the Cross Keys pub, in Belmont Road.
Mr Grubb is running in memory of his late father Bill, who passed away in February after battling cancer. He spent his last days at the hospice.
“The staff at the hospice were brilliant, always treating dad with respect and dignity making sure he was comfortable and pain free,” he said. “My family received tremendous support during this awful time and there was always someone around to answer questions and to explain things. We as a family intend to continue raising as much money as we can for them.”
Mr Grubb, who is 29, considers himself naturally fit as he spends more than three-and-a-half hours every day delivering mail to the 500 houses in Graham Road.
