ROYAL Mail staff in Peterborough have delivered a much-needed funding boost to a city charity.
Workers at Royal Mail’s business customer services department raised £210 for Sue Ryder Care’s Februhairy campaign, which involved people all over the city taking part in weird and wonderful fundraising events based on the theme of hair.
People tried out crazy cuts, shaved their heads, waxed their legs, had daring dye jobs and even took part in moustache and beard growing competitions as part of the fund-raising appeal in February.
The Royal Mail staff opted to wear wacky wigs to work to raise their share of the Februhairy cash.
After collecting their donations, they presented the money to Sue Ryder Care at the Royal Mail depot on Papyrus Road, Werrington, on May 5.
All money raised from the appeal will go directly to help Sue Ryder Care continue to provide end of life and long term care to people living with serious conditions including cancer, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.
Sue Ryder Care operates hospices across the country, including the Thorpe Hall Hospice facility at Longthorpe, Peterborough.
