The Royal Mail had to borrow post vans from a neighbouring town after vandals went on a wrecking spree in Newtown.
Windscreens and mirrors were smashed on four post vans, putting them out of action.
Royal Mail managers in Newtown had to borrow vans from a neighbouring postal office area to get the mail out to its customers following the attack last week.
Police today appealed for anyone with information into the incident at the Gravel Car Park in Newtown overnight on April 14 and 15.
Val Bodden, a spokesman for Royal Mail, said today: “We can confirm that four of our Royal Mail vans were vandalised on the night of Wednesday, April 14, while parked overnight near to the delivery office in Newtown.
“The windscreens on three of the vehicles were smashed and wing mirrors on the fourth vehicle were damaged.
“We view this incident extremely seriously and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the police in Newtown or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
She added: “Fortunately we managed to borrow vehicles from a neighbouring office and it did not affect deliveries that day.
“The vehicles have now been repaired and are back on the road.”

No surprsie there then as Newtown can be as rough as a bears arse on a Wednesday night, and it wouldn't help parking the vans in a car park near to the delivery office, which no doubt will now be closed, the town then having its deliveries directly out of Shrewsbury.
