ITV's Adam Crozier lines up big hitters

Adam Crozier is preparing to parachute in a heavy-hitting programme maker to lead ITV’s production arm as one of his first acts at the helm of the broadcaster.

The former Royal Mail chief, who starts on April 26, has already begun identifying candidates to run ITV Studios, which makes Emmerdale and documentaries such as Joanna Lumley’s Nile.

Frontrunners for the role are expected to be Kevin Lygo, Channel 4’s director of television, and Lorraine Heggessey, chief executive of Talkback Thames, maker of The Bill. The current studios supremo Lee Bartlett is expected to be sidelined.

Crozier wants ITV Studios to find new hit shows it can export. It does not own the formats to two of its biggest ratings successes, Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor.


ITV said: “Adam has not yet arrived and no view on the future executive team will be taken before he has had time to make an assessment.
