FRUSTRATION continues over the future of Chesham Post Office, after computer failure led to the branch not being able to re-open today.
The store, in High Street, has been closed since November but bosses said it would re-open this morning.
Yet despite work taking place over the weekend, the computer system could not be connected to a national network.
Chesham Mayor, Cllr Justine Fulford, said at Chiltern District Council’s full council meeting tonight: “They should be connected tomorrow with a view to opening on Thursday, but I think it’s a case of ‘Don’t hold your breath’.
“I have been told other things by the controller of the post office.”
The branch closed without warning on Friday November 13, with a hand-written note telling customers to use other stores in Amersham and Great Hivings.
