Masked men in Jewellery Quarter raid on Royal Mail workers

MASKED men snatched a consignment thought to contain jewellery worth thousands of pounds in a robbery on two Royal Mail workers.

The pair, aged 26 and 54, were threatened by the thugs as they made a collection on Vittoria Street in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter at 5.20pm on Friday night.

Detectives said the attackers did not appear to be armed.

A member of staff at nearby Centre Jewellery said a colleague had witnessed the robbery but did not wish to comment.

A police spokesman said: “The offenders are believed to have made off in a Rover 25.”
