Postal workers walked out of Royal Mail's Bridgwater delivery office on Tuesday following the suspension of two colleagues.
The unofficial industrial action started at 0800 GMT and lasted for more than an hour.
A Royal Mail spokesman said staff returned to work following discussions with managers at the office.
He said customers in the area may receive mail later than normal and apologised for the inconvenience.
The spokesman said: "The stoppage followed the precautionary suspension, on full pay, of two Royal Mail Bridgwater employees.
"Royal Mail does not discuss the details of individual personnel cases and has robust procedures, agreed with the Communication Workers Union, to deal with such matters.
"Royal Mail would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused by this unofficial industrial action and assure them that we are doing everything possible to restore services to normal as soon as possible."
