St Helens motorist appears at Liverpool court charged with causing the death of a postman

A MOTORIST has made his first appearance at crown court charged with causing the death of a postman by his careless driving.
Paul Chester, 40, is alleged to have caused the death of motorcyclist Anthony Cave, 40, who died after a crash at the junction of Crab Street and Duke Street, St Helens.
Mr Cave, a postman from Dentons Green Lane, was fatally injured after his Suzuki motorbike was hit by the blue Vauxhall Zafira on the evening of June 3, 2009.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at Whiston hospital.
Chester, of Cranberry Close, St Helens, made his first appearance at Liverpool crown court yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
He spoke to confirm his name, but did not enter a plea.
A trial date was set for April 19.
