Man suffers head injuries in post office raid

A man suffered head injuries after a vicious attack during a post office raid this morning.

It is believed thieves targeted Hurst post office and village store in The Street at 4am as the morning newspapers were being delivered.

The ambulance service said the injured man was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

It is the second time in a year the shop has been raided by thieves.

Last February, shopkeeper Jit Singh chased away three robbers who attacked the shop with baseball bats.
