This is the devastation left by ramraiders who smashed into Hipperholme Post Office in a bid to get at a cash machine.
Broken glass and piles of bricks lay strewn on the pavement outside the shop on the A58 Leeds Road after the attack in the early hours of Saturday.
Temporary postmaster John Armstrong said he was "sickened" at the sight. "There is a lot of structural damage. I've no idea how much it will cost."
The raiders – who fled the scene empty-handed – are believed to have used three vehicles in the foiled raid.
The hole-in-the-wall cash machine was rammed through into the shop and extensive damage caused.
One of the vehicles involved – a white Nissan panel van – was found abandoned in the White Horse Inn car park at Lightcliffe shortly after.
It was reported stolen from the Batley area and is being investigated by a forensics team.
Residents in the flat upstairs raised the alarm at 12.30am on Saturday.
Part of the front wall has been reduced to rubble with debris strewn outisde.
Mr Armstrong said: "It's more about the implications to the community."
The shop was cordoned off and has now been boarded up.
A notice outside the premises said that emergency work – propping the floor and securing the front of the building – had been carried out by Calderdale Council as it was in a dangerous condition.
Mr Armstrong said he could not confirm how long the branch would remain closed.
"The priority is to get the office back open again as soon as possible," he said.
