I am amazed to read in your newspaper of the abuse suffered by our refuse collectors. I can’t speak for other areas but the crew serving my area are the most helpful, cheerful and polite young men. I want to publicly thank them for the valuable service they are providing. The fact that bin collections have been suspended for last week was not their decision but that of management in view of the hazardous conditions on the roads.

Another group of people that I would like to thank are our postmen who have continued to deliver mail throughout this big freeze.

The postal service leading up to Christmas was second to none. A parcel sent on December 20 (after the last recommended date) was delivered on Monday, December 22 to an address some 60 miles north of Aberdeen. The Post Office receives so many complaints that I feel my experience shows that every effort is made to deliver on time.
