More than 20 members of Royal Mail staff have been the subject of disciplinary action over the last year.
Following a freedom of information request about employees working across Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire, it was confirmed that nine staff had been given a reprimand.
Six were given a warning and two were dismissed from the Royal Mail.
A total of three employees were disciplined for a major offence while one had been suspended with pay.
In February this year it was reported that two postmen had been prosecuted for stealing post. They were both given community orders and were ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in costs.
A spokesman for the Royal Mail confirmed that there were around 1,300 employees working across the MK postcode area, which includes Milton Keynes and Buckingham, and that they are not able to go into the detail of individual cases.
He added: “Royal Mail operates a Conduct Code agreed with the Communication Workers’ Union.
“The purpose of the procedure is to help and encourage all employees achieve and maintain standards of conduct.
“On the rare occasion we encounter dishonesty, Royal Mail takes a zero tolerance approach and that stance is shared by the overwhelming majority of our staff, who are honest and hard-working.
“We will always seek to prosecute the tiny minority of people who abuse their position of trust.”

Or.........
10 were stage three dismissals, 6 were trumped up charges based on fabricated charges, 3 were because the posties face 'didn't fit' and one was a marked man because he cut off to frequently.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

And multiply all those figures by about 200 and you get the picture nationally.IPS wrote:Or.........

It will take more than that to rid themselves of this pain in the ass.

"all agreed with the Union" - why so defensive - , at the very best RM do NOT enter into the spirit of agreements , at worst Senior & Middle Mgt put perverse interpretations on matters & operate at the very limit of employment law / regard themselves as above it .Lounge Lizard wrote:And multiply all those figures by about 200 and you get the picture nationally.IPS wrote:Or.........

There has been motions put to Conference about abuse of Code of Conduct and " moral " crusades , all Emperor's new clothes stuff for Senior / Executive Managers that would have sold their arses in Woolworth's window for a tenner or their own mothers to save their own skins and shopped their own mates for the price of a pint .
Very disingenuous - nothing to do with a possible H&B inquiry that RM are terrified of ? - To be fair there may be some dead wood and tea leaves bang to rights , but anything RM has to be taken with a sack of salt .
But as long as everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet ..................................
