Kendal deliveries delayed as 12 inches of snow lie overnight

DELIVERY drivers have been stuck on Stricklandgate for more than an hour this morning, Tuesday, after heavy snow in Kendal overnight.

A driver from Manchester arrived at McDonalds at 7.55am but had to change his route as snow blocked his usually drop off point behind the Post Office.

Instead he had to park on Stricklandgate and waited 70 minutes before he was able to offload his delivery.

Booths supermarket’s deliveries were also affected with bread deliveries being carted through the snow from Stricklandgate through Wainwright’s Yard as a foot of snow covered the entrance to the main car park.

On one of the busiest days of the year in the dash to Christmas, most of Booths staff were out helping as three further deliveries arrived.

Marks and Spencer had to grit the road around the Elephant Yard to allow their delivery truck in but it was soon cleared and the store is ready for business as usual.
