The letter "Go local to skip queue" (Your say, December 15) suggested we should use our local post office – what a joke.
Years ago Stainlanders were conned into writing Holywell Green in their address instead of Stainland. Allegedly because there was no sorting office at Stainland Post Office but there was at Holywell Green.
Since then the post has been sorted at Halifax Gaol Lane and nowadays, I believe, at Bradford.
As a result, Stainland Post Office closed in August 2008 because those who are supposed to know presumed Stainland was of no importance. As a consequence the adjoining newspaper shop closed in January of this year.
Now Stainland only has a pharmacy, a hairdressing salon and a nail and beauty parlour.
Use your local post office – what a joke.
