An MP will pay a visit to a Royal Mail sorting office this week.
Fareham's Tory MP Mark Hoban, who once worked as a postman, will visit the Sarisbury Green delivery office on Friday to see for himself how postal staff cope in the run-up to Christmas.
He will take a tour of the facility to see how they deal with the mountains of mail, and will also chat to workers.
And Mr Hoban will make an early start in order to meet Richard Sellar, the delivery office manager, and some of the 67 postmen and women, who will be ensuring that the area's massive Christmas mailbag is delivered to more than 19,000 addresses at Royal Mail's busiest time of year.
Mr Hoban said: 'We owe a huge debt of gratitude to postmen and postwomen at this time of the year.
'Having done a holiday job as a postman in the run-up to Christmas, I know how hard they work so that we can keep in touch with friends and family at this time of year.'
The last recommended posting date for first class mail is Monday, December 21.

Wow.. I bet the Sarisbury Green D.O. cannot wait for Friday. I would wager that their morale has reached fever pitch. Will they be able to sleep on Thursday night, thinking of how benedicial a Tory will save them all from the Lab/Con Manifesto of selling off Royal Mail because he worked as a postie for a week! OOOOh i cant wait to see all the photos of Mark Hoban MP with all the D.O. staff. Royal Mail chat should, maybe , print a photo of this momentus occassion, then maybe publish the same photo 1 year from now to see how many of the staff are still at Sarisbury Green delivery office .

Tory MP visited the office down the road from us this week. Had a walk round the posties he was cornered by a couple who said to him what are you going to do with RM if/when you get in next May. . . . . He declined to comment

My Conservatve MP is very forthcoming on Conservative plans.
They support the PSB and the Hooper report and belive the hooper propsals must be taken as one and can not be cherry picked for want of a better time.
If it hasnt been implemented when and if they come to power then they will undertake market testing to look at the best way of getting private capital into RM.

"Mark Hoban, a Tory MP, claimed £35 on a toilet roll holder, £100 for a chrome shower rack and £79 for four silk cushion covers on his second home allowance"
