Couldn't sleep last night, and I heard this on Radio 4....it was fantastic ( and the actor they have doing the reading really brings it alive ).....any chance of getting it as an audio book or MP3 download, Roy? ( I know it isn't your decision alone Roy, but as the author, you might have a bit of influence ).

Its always been a fact that within so many staff at RM there must be an enormous amount of talent bursting to get out. In '75 when I started I could get almost any job done by my mates 'cos they just about covered any job you could mention.

But talented writers were not the norm and you have filled that vacuum with a vengeance.

Listened to No 2 this morning. My missus and I both worked for 27 years in RM and we love the way you portray the atmosphere and culture - including the pillock Manager and his pouch 'problem'.

Lots of our friends are Radio 4 addicts so it will be interesting to hear what they say having listened to me going on about how the job was

Just had a sad thought - Roy said he started as a postman in '79, after transferring over from what would become BT....well I think it sums up what the job is that you can have a DOM that wasn't even a gleam in his daddy's eye when Roy picked up his pouch - especially as back in the day, a manager had to spend at least 10 years learning his area inside and out....and he was invited to the job, not filling out an application online before the ink on his 3rd class degree has dried

I think the BBC will release it as an audio book. They often do. I'll certainly do what I can to have it brought out in that format. You're right: Philip Jackson is doing a brilliant job.
