A St Helens man is due to stand trial in the New Year after he was charged with causing death by careless driving.
Paul Chester, 38, was charged in connection with the death of motorcyclist Anthony Cave, 40, who passed away following a collision at the junction of Crab Street and Duke Street in June.
Chester, of Cranberry Close, appeared before St Helens Magistrates charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
He is also charged with driving a vehicle that had an insufficient tyre tread.
Mr Cave, a postman from Dentons Green Lane, was fatally injured after his Suzuki motorbike was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Zafira on the evening of June 3.
Tragically, he was pronounced dead on arrival at Whiston Hospital.
In the days after his death, a poignant floral tribute was attached to railings on the corner of Duke Street and Crab Street in his memory - along with a Saints shirt and flag.
One of Anthony's colleagues at the St Helens delivery office said at the time: "We are all truly gutted about the tragic death of a fantastic colleague and friend."
Chester, who opted to face trial by jury, was granted bail.
He is due to appear again before St Helens Magistrates on January 19 before the case is committed to Liverpool Crown Court.
