MP to thank postmen and women for a "first class" service

YEOVIL MP David Laws will be visiting four Royal Mail delivery offices this month.

From Friday, December 4, he will see for himself how postmen and women in the area get Christmas sorted.

He will tour the Crewkerne office on Friday and then visit Yeovil the following day.

Mr Laws will be at the Chard office on December 12 and then Ilminster on December 19 to see how the posties deal with the mountains of festive mail.

He will also chat to the hardworking staff who make sure they deliver a first class Christmas for Somerset residents.

Mr Laws will meet delivery office managers and some of the 181 postmen and women there who are responsible for ensuring the massive Christmas mailbag is delivered to over 49,000 addresses at Royal Mail’s busiest time of year.

The visits will be in time to post any cards and presents for delivery before Christmas - with the last recommended posting date on Monday, December 21, for first class mail.

I thought that was what MP's done at xmas anyway, at my old DO we knew he was going to visit as the place would be cleaned thoroughly. He'd turn up give the DOM a bottle of scotch have a chat then bugger off to the OAP's home, one day out on delivery I bumped into him 3 times at OAP homes.
