It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No strikes.
Assault, oops 'driving forward modernisation' begins again after Christmas, and pensions are off the agenda completely.

Not a chance. He was all over the place and reading from notes. Jibes were sour grapes. This man was brought in to smash the union. Whatever the content of the agreement people should remember that 6 months ago weren't even talking to the CWU. The key is going to be how tight the words are. Wait before you cast judgement

Does anyone remember crap 80's sci fi program V in which people used to tear off their skin to reveal they were really reptiles. I'm convinced Higson is one of them. Does the people he thanked for keeping the mail moving include those light fingered temps who were on ITN earlier. He in a nutshell is whats wrong with Royal Mail

No Strikes,DRIVING through modernisation in the new year and no talking about the pension are not jibes Lovejoy.
The fact that he was reading from notes means he had time to think about what he was about to say.

And here is the CWU response:

"Royal Mail wanted a period of calm to get them through Christmas without any threat of industrial action but what we have managed to negotiate is a period of calm without any threat of strikes to get through christmas so we can negotiate an agreement that Royal Mail have absolutely no intention of honouring in the New Year"

The sad thing is we have managed to snatch defeat from victory YET AGAIN and I actually pay for the privilege - but not any longer. I hope there are so many people withdraw from the CWU and join another union which doesn't support the labour party that the current crop of tossers haven't enough money to buy toilet paper to wipe their mouths with. :mad
