Press Statements
Were Dave Ward and Mark Higgison in the same meeting and the same talks regarding this dispute?
After first watching Brendan Barber ,then Dave Ward ,I felt quite upbeat and positive, looked like progress had been made.
Shortly after this all on sky news I watched Mark Higgison,he seemed to be talking totaly different message as Dave Ward, somone here refered to Mark higgisons statement as a victory speech,I have to agree.
A further note ,I think Dave Ward ,is a very good speaker ,but why cannot he wear a tie, personaly I dont care whar he looks like ,but in this day of image I beleive he turns many people against him, especialy women by his almost scrify apperance, other people have mentioned this to me and I agree.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Press Statements
Didn't see Higgison statement, but thought Ward and Barber were bad enough. Barber's actually says we are a long way from a final settlement. Oh, and the union website says no detail until noon tomorrow.
So, we have to go back to work tomorrow, not on the basis of a deal, but on the basis of an agreement for further talks which we cannot know anything about until after we have gone back. And the person who chaired the talks says we are a long way from a deal while Higgison proclaims victory. On that basis we put the dispute on ice until after the New Year.
Disaster. Royal Mail have been trying to get the strikes called off until after Christmas for weeks, now they've succedded without giving anything. meanwhile we go back to the s**t we've been haviong for the last 6 months. The "period of calm" means they clear the backlog, get people used to the changes they've already made and if (when?) the talks break down it will be that much harder to persuade people to come out again.
Thank you Dave Ward, the ace team of negotiators and the PEC.

Re: Press Statements
I think its a stitch up we should never be going back tomorrow, they have no intention to sort the real problems out. I feel sorry for the posties who have lost probably £1500 or more for F**k all. Lucky for me I have only had 2 days of official action. How about the duties which was imposed on drivers in Network 09 they are a crock of s**t I can see that and it dosent affect me.. What about the pension etc etc etc :mfo :cfo :lfo

Re: Press Statements
CWU members were never balloted on subject of pensions....Hence, it has no involvement in this round of negotiation/ agreement.

Re: Press Statements
Nor were we balloted on a whole raft of individual issues around the dispute. So what, everyone knew (or at least, thought) they were part of what the union needed to get sorted. Oh, and we werte balloted on changes to the pension scheme about 18 months ago. Nothing happened then either.damcka wrote:CWU members were never balloted on subject of pensions....Hence, it has no involvement in this round of negotiation/ agreement.
