It would appear that the CWU PEC are within the next day or two about to announce the third round of strike action.

They have to give 7 days notice. I suppose they thought there was going to be a resolution, plus I think they do not to put too much pressure on us when it comes to losing too much money.I am sure they have a plan

If Friday or Saturday are called as strike days for D.O's there willbea lot of upset members in my D.O.

They are of the firm belief that striuke cation needs to go through the full spectrum of the days of the week. That way everybody gets to have their day off a strike day so dont loose money. 2007 saw some peopel loose a lot less than others and that has left a bad tatse in peoples mouth about CWU planning.

Stategy should be as much about keeping support as it should hitting RM hard.

I'm all for the dispute escalating, but i'm afraid not all my colleagues feel the same.
Many of my troops feel one day a week is enough. If it goes to two, three days per week I can see a lot of folk wavering.
Unfortunate but true.

combine this with other functions on alternate days,and it becomes a more prolonged attack,but whatever steps the PEC decide on,certain branches will have to emerge from their bunkers to galvanise/maintain support.

I Agree, and also the people who had their day off on friday ( delivery strike day last week) their day off this week falls on sat .
think union should of moved it back a day and not forward.

I say let's give Royal Mail 7 day's notice of an INDEFINITE stoppage, starting Saturday 7th November. That should focus their minds in tomorrow's talks, and gives them all of next week to reach a resolution to the dispute.

If we continue with these weekly strikes, and start asking people to lose more than one day's pay a week with Xmas now less than 8 weeks away, people are going to start crumbling before RM do, imho.

Cannot agree more with you about your last point. That is my biggest fear. That people will start to get restless as xmas approaches, especially if they go for say, 2 days out per week or something.

Lets cut the crap once and for all about all out strikes it isnt going to happen. I really wonder if anyone who suggests this tactic has been involved in an all out strike? I have been involved in 5 all out strikes and I know the pressure it puts our members under everyday, you wonder as a rep if tomorrow will see a drift back. Yes it puts Royal Mail under pressure but it also puts ourselves under unnecessary pressure and will force a major drift back to work.

Look we have members on different levels in this dispute, in London we have had 18 days out most have lost £1500 already, we have others in Scotland ,Plymouth, Bristol, the RDCs all losing quite a bit. So the union needs to recognise that they have been struggling for almost 19 weeks. So it is great now we have the rest of union involved but to then ask them to lose two days in one pay packet on top of the hardship they have suffered will be a step too far for some and in my view a betrayal for their sacrifce.

The PEC have today made a decision on further action, I wont reveal it but I am not in agreement with it for reasons which will become clear.

We all want a victory but we must take the members with us. Winning is not about bravado its about leadership and taking the members with you. Upping the action to two or more days in one pay packet will mean that we see a drift. We can win this dispute. After all it was Royal Mail who asked the CWU to return to the TUC for further talks tonight. But the principle must be to hit them hard and often but ensuring we take our members with us.

Totally agree on All-out strike from next friday. Time to stop piddling about with one day stoppages and turn up the heat!

i respect people like dingo, who know what their talking about.dont bite off your nose to spite your face. when this dispute started the newspapers were 100% against us. the tide has turned dramatically, we are winning the debate, RM and Crozier have been moved from their "comfort zone". they are now getting asked questions which they dont have answers to
