Quote:- "TNT, Europe’s second- biggest parcel company and the Dutch national mail carrier, handles U.K. corporate mail and is testing a door-to-door service in Liverpool, England.
The results are encouraging, said Wells. We’ll roll it out depending on the demands and needs of our clients in the best areas,” he said. “If anyone can do it, TNT can.”
They've been testing door-to-door services in Liverpool for some years now, so it can't be working that well eh? - Just more lies and scare tactics, utter bullshit!!!

Well they have had three years to press on, and they've done nothing
2 options really both based on level playing field ,ie no vat or all vat ,and uso or not
1 USO maintained + - vat all compete for a fraction of the market ;costs roughly static but revenue at a fraction so big losses for all
2 USO abandoned +- vat and mail delivery service exists in only 12-16 major conurbations :outlying areas no delivery or delivery if posting costs quadrupled .Big profits for all but massive price hike for customers

say Tnt does launch a delivery service who would cover the subsidy of 2p per letter that we do for the gits, surely they won't be expecting us to continue subsidising them :mfo

Bring it on! if TNT have their own postmen then they should lose access :
they cant have their cake and eat it can they?.
or we will be delivering rural letters for TNT at a cost to us(USO style) while they choose to deliver town letters in selected towns
(cherry picker) style.
I suppose the real question is will TNT ever be asked to take on the USO,....no?
Then its never gonna be a level playing field is it.
unless Royal Mail become freed from the obligation ..then its a level field
and a postcard to Scotland will cost a pound and villages might not get mail at all.
I'm a postman-and i know where you live.....

Ah so they can't get enough profits cherry picking the B2B and DSA stream so they admit they will ignore the USO and cherry pick only profit making doorstep deliveries. Guess who will get stuck with the loss making ones.Phantom wrote: The results are encouraging, said Wells. Does this mean anyone moving house will have to pay for two redirections?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
