IT was normal service yesterday at the home of mail union boss Billy Hayes.

A postman dutifully turned up despite the strike to deliver a bundle of letters to the Communication Workers Union leader’s terraced house in south London.

Millions of items are still trapped in a vast backlog of mail in the capital caused by the union’s series of local strikes.

Customers have complained of first class post already taking up to 10 days to arrive.

Mr Hayes, a former postman, now enjoys a salary package of around £97,600 including benefits for his role as union general secretary. He was at the BBC studios yesterday morning for an interview and had a cup of tea with Royal Mail’s operations director Paul Tolhurst after the two men bumped into each other.

Royal Mail said homes and businesses across the UK were receiving postal deliveries as usual yesterday because only mail centre staff and drivers went on strike.

But deliveries will halt today when delivery and collection staff walk out.

As many as 15 million items are so far thought to have gone undelivered.

Almost everybody got post yesterday ! is the newspaper trying to suggests billy has been getting preferential treatment.

We could all could be a journalists iv seen this week how easy it is to spin as story out of nothing.

The wages of 5 postman . but Croziers bonus alone is worth 50 postman so you reckon it up.
At least billy has been making tv appearances and giving interviews etc.
unlike his nemesis who's in hiding.

Billy lives in Mitchum not in London.His house comes under the Croydon and District amal.
