Did industrial action have any impact on Royal Mail's business? the answer is NO! and Royal Mail has welcomed SKY TV MAG back to 2nd class from TNT's DSA.

A lot of email and texting has replaced telephone calls and not hand written letters. Hand written letters are in decline and have been for the last 25 years or so, long before email and texts.

The industrial action at Royal Mail in 2009 is not about PAY, its about fair and managable workloads, its about receiving mail at a decent time of day so that mail can be dealt with in that same day and not a day late, its about having the same postman/woman on a regular basis who knows who their customers are and their needs.

Royal Mail don't want this type of workforce anymore, they want a casual, part time, non-caring, rotating workforce who haven't got a clue as to what customers require, this same type of high turn over workforce is repeated throughout TNT, DHL, CITY LINK and many others.

If this is what you the public want then carry on with the attack on industrial action and we'll go back to work and watch RM collapse in front of our eyes while the government and senior executives get golden handshakes. If not then back the fight to protect it!

Remember there is no competition except a forced unatural one and thats why its failing!

Royal Mail has welcomed SKY TV MAG back to 2nd class from TNT's DSA.

It's always been 2nd and MS in my office unless I missed something and DSA now uses 2 on their mail

I remember it being TNT for a few years and now its definately 2nd class. The reason it came back to Royal Mail is that TNT couldn't collect and process it in time for the end of the month.

while royal mail is being run for profit and not as an essential service, which it should be, the service will get worse and worse and our jobs are gonna get worse and worse.
we all need to stand up and be counted, give proper opinions at wtl sessions and dont just let the loud ones give there say and no others.
the managers know there wrong but earn bonuses based on cost cutting, so follow blindly.
bring back 5am starts, give the public the service that they deserve, noone wants there post past 12 in the afternoon.
but at the same time we all need to stop people coming in 2 hours early, cutting up duties, doorstepping and going home at 11-30. the union reps cant do this but peer pressure can. stop cutting corners and they wont be able to make anymore cuts, but it is too late this time round because the savings have already been shown to them
