Romec's new project manager seeks ‘Big Wins'

Lisa Whittle has taken on the role of strategic project manager at Stockport-based facilities management company Romec.

The firm said that her appointment is part of its five-year strategy to increase turnover to £350m. Whittle, who lives in Macclesfield, has been with the company since June 2007 when she joined as business improvement manager. Prior to that, she worked for AstraZeneca.

Romec was founded in 1989 by Royal Mail to look after its estate of 2,500 buildings. In 2002, Balfour Beatty Workplace took a 49 per cent share in the company. Romec now provides management services throughout the UK. Its 2008 turnover was in excess of £195m.

“The company has got one goal and is going in one direction — but historically employees have worked on lots of different projects across the business, which has lead to duplication,” she said. “We have now identified that we need to focus on what we have termed the ‘Big Wins', which will lead to an improvement in overall performance and will ultimately save us money.”
