Thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and other goods stolen in two separate thefts in city's Willison Street.

Thieves target vans in Dundee street

Thieves made off with over £8,000 worth of jewellery in a raid on a Royal Mail van in Dundee, police said on Friday.

The jewellery was on its way to stores in Dundee's City Centre when the van was broken into in the city's Willison Street.

The haul included a white gold 60 point cluster anniversary ring, a yellow gold wishbone style ring set with five diamonds and a ruby and diamond band ring.

A diamond twist ring set on a gold band, a white gold diamond solitaire ring, a plain gold wedding band, and two white gold rings set with garnets were also taken.

Raiders also made off with a gents Tag Heur watch, a Seiko make watch, a Tissot make watch, and a gents gold patterned wedding ring.

The incident occurred between 9.30am and 9.43am on Tuesday September 22.

The following day at the same location, a white Iveco make van parked in Willison Street was targeted between 9.45am and 10am.

A suit bag was stolen along with a bottle of prescribed aspirin, a Blackberry charger, a Nokia mobile phone charger, a pair of size 8 black leather shoes, a brown leather wallet, a small sum of cash, and a number of credit, debit and store cards.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: "If you remember seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the area, or if you know where the stolen goods are now, please get in touch with Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222."
