Postal workers in the west of Scotland have ended their second wildcat strike in four days amid an ongoing dispute about crossing official picket lines.

Staff at Glasgow Mail Centre and 12 other delivery offices in the city, Paisley and Ayr returned to work on Tuesday morning.

Royal Mail said it had brought in extra volunteers to get services back to normal as quickly as possible.

Similar action on Friday disrupted work at 14 delivery offices.

The disputes started after several drivers were sent home without pay for refusing to cross an official picket line.

Royal Mail said this was "standard practice" where staff refused to work while not taking industrial action.

The Communication Workers Union is involved in on-going official strike action against Royal Mail.

Both parties have accused each other of reneging on a deal reached in 2007 aimed at modernising the service.

The union has accused bosses of forcing through change without consultation. Royal Mail said the changes were needed to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

As an individual member of the CMA I have the greatest respect for your opinions especially as you are not in Ops, however the CMAs/Unites actions in this particular IA and 2007 as well, leave a lot to be desired.

Sorry if you are offended,but there is no insult intended ,just a simple statement of fact. I guess there is simply no sugar coated universally pleasant way of describing individuals who choose to undermine the democratic free choice of their workmates in order to further the reduction of their earnings and increase their workload ,whilst simultaneously and contrary to your assertion ,undermine ,indeed decimate a once proud public service. I think the general public are increasingly aware of the difference between workers and parasites. You could try "work " yourself but judging by your posts thats probably not an option

I have never striked and never will, I work for RM in a support function and as such have to perform 2 days a week "Critical Operational Support" AKA postal duties.

I have been informed by CMA/Unite that the dispute is between the CWU and RM and we are required to work as instructed, to be honest I have had enough of all this Union agro and will ditch them on Monday.
