Thursday, 12.05pm - POSTAL workers in Grantham will strike again on Monday (Sept 28) for 24 hours.
It will be the third strike by Grantham postmen so far this month following action on September 4 and 7 as a dispute with Royal Mail bosses continues.
A total of 103 Grantham postmen, all members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) will be taking part in the strike following a ballot of members.
The strike will last from 4am on Monday to 4am on Tuesday.
The CWU believe Royal Mail bosses are planning to impose cuts, with compulsory redundancies a possibility. They also believe postmen are not being allowed enough time to complete their rounds.
CWU representative Andy Coe said: "It is a local dispute and Grantham has been balloted individually. Bosses are making unacceptable and unrealistic budget savings.
"In the next couple of weeks we have been told to save 300 hours on walks and deliveries. If we are asked to do unachievable deliveries then that will effect the quality of service for customers in Grantham.
"They are imposing these changes, not negotiating."
Postal staff are currently being balloted nationally about the prospect of similar strike action.
