POOR SERVICE: It amazes me how the public in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire still think that the transfer of mail to Wolverhapton is the cause of late deliveries and poor quality of service. For the past 11 years all first and second class mail has been collected and sorted at the mail Centre in Wolverhampton and at least 97 per cent of the time it reaches the delivery offices on time. Problems regarding late deliveries lie solely with the delivery office, the problem we have here is the majority of delivery offices are poorly managed and understaffed. Delivery rounds are too big and there is not enough time in a postman's shift to prep and deliver the mail. We are constantly reminded that Royal Mail needs to modernise. This is true, but first we need to modernise the management structure.
