I AGREE with much of what the ex-postman said in last week's paper. As a postman for just over seven years (nearly six and a half at Ely and 11 months at Soham) it is a good job being ruined by people at the top in Royal Mail which filters down to local managers. What Royal Mail is doing is arrogant and ignorant. One example of this is replacing bicycles with high capacity trollies which, as tests have proved, will result in the general public getting their mail later in the day (consequently a worse service). Trollies are only needed in shopping and busy areas but not on the normal housing estates and residential areas. Also the axing of a number of duties is a disgrace.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is an excellent and powerful union and they will fight hard to protect postal services.

I went on the demonstration on May 2 in Cambridge when we marched around the city centre to protest against privatisation for the time being and was proud to have played a tiny part in the fight against privatisation.

Nobody really wants to strike but a stand has to be made.

top man and if you have worked at royalmail you no what it is like ,people who shout there odds but never worked for rm should zip it because they do not no what is going on.
