A man bitten by a deadly spider on holiday was saved by an alert postman.
Mark Pearson was delivering mail to Joseph Kilmurray when he noticed his arm was badly swollen.
Joseph, 62, of Burgess Hill, West Sussex, blamed the food for feeling ill since returning from 10 days in Africa. But Mark, 55, advised him to get urgent medical attention.
Doctors at nearby Princess Royal Hospital said he could have died within 24 hours.
Joseph, who has now fully recovered, said: "Mark deserves an award."
