AN anonymous donor has given £5,000 to four-year-old Harley Slack who had all his limbs amputated due to meningitis.
The little boy is in the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital after suffering one of the worst cases staff have seen.
His parents, Samantha and Adam, with the support of friends, have launched an appeal for £100,000 to buy Harley, from Hazel Grove, Stockport, the best prosthetic legs and arms. They also want to adapt their home and take time off work to be with him.
The donation arrived among 1,445 letters delivered by postman Jeremy Atkins on Saturday.
Harley has now received more than 2,000 letters of support from members of the public since the M.E.N. and Stockport Express featured his story last week and backed the fundraising campaign.
Mike Hulbert, a family friend coordinating the drive, said: "I've had hundreds of phone calls and emails. When we opened that cheque, it was overwhelming. There have been others for £1,000. It is incredible how kind people are."
Harley was due to have skin grafts on Friday, but doctors couldn't finish the operation.
