Brunswick Road Delivery office on the move

ROYAL Mail is to relocate the delivery office which caters for Leith and eastern Edinburgh.
The delivery office for EH6, EH7 and EH8 – on Brunswick Road – will move to modern refurbished premises in East Telferton Industrial Estate on Monday, 29 June.

Andrew Wood, Royal Mail director for collection and delivery in Scotland, said: "The newly refurbished offices at East Telferton will help us to deliver better customer service and is part of a £2.3 million investment plan for our operations in the city.

"It will provide a modern and spacious environment with the latest sorting equipment and improved facilities for customers and our 130 employees."

Every customer served by the new delivery office – which includes include Leith, Meadowbank, Willowbrae and Broughton – is set to receive a leaflet through their door explaining the changes and setting out the opening times of the office.

Royal Mail says the changes will not affect mail deliveries to households and businesses covered by the facility.

having spoken at length to postmen who are affected by this move I feel I can confirm the following details about RM's latest modernised building.

1. the self mess area has four tables,12 chairs for 120 odd postmen.
2. The worktime learning area is next to the self mess area with no partition. enjoy you break whilst you listen to the wtl lies for the third time this week.
3. the callers office is too small to hold all the parcels,packets,charges and specials for towns 6,7,and 8.
4. there is only one double door out to the'car park' for thirty vans to be unloaded from.
5. there is no canopy to protect the mail when its raining. (the sea is only 300 yards from the office and in the winter it will be a nightmare)
6. There is no private area in which back to work interviews etc can be held.Only the doms office but obviously other doms and any postmen all have access.
7.From the main road and nearest bus stop you have to walk a further half a mile into the industrial estate to reach the office.
8. there is no secure parking for the vans at weekends or of a night time.
9. There is under ten parking spaces for the postmen,which have to be shared with the doms.
10. The nearest shop is half a mile away .
11. there is going to be no latest sorting equipment,unless it is manuel,the spanish chap who started last week.

Seeing as the RoyalMail.com website now refuses to divulge any information concerning the opening hours of delivery offices (and the 08457 740 740 helpline is useless), does anyone know if the Portobello/Leith/East Telferton Industrial Estate sorting office is open on Sunday 20th (and if so, over which hours)? I've a Recorded Delivery to attempt to catch before it's returned seeing as I received no delivery-attempt card...

given my own office and the office covering my house isnt i would say no
why not arrange a local collect ot your post office given its free just now?
