Showcase For Vintage Mail Vehicles

CREWE Heritage Centre will be hosting a Royal Mail vehicle weekend on June 20 and 21.

Visitors to the centre, adjacent to Tesco on Vernon Way, will have the chance to view a number of vehicles, including a lovingly restored vintage Travelling Post Office coach and a ‘class 47’ diesel locomotive which was used by Express Rail Systems to haul the Travelling Post Office.

Children can enjoy a ride on the miniature railway and marvel at models and railway displays.

Andy Kettle, Royal Mail distribution manager in Crewe and a volunteer at the Heritage Centre, said: “The weekend has been organised to showcase some of the magnificent vehicles used to transport mail over the years and the 80 million items of mail that are now handled everyday.”
