A GUN, stockings and a rubber glove were found in a postbox in Wealdstone last week.

The 9mm pistol was found in Dukes Avenue and police are investigating the possibility it could have been used in an armed robbery.

They believe it was dumped between 5.45pm on Thursday and 2.45pm on Friday.

Officers have been interviewing residents in the area in an effort to find out what happened.

Anyone with information, can contact officers on 0300 123 1212, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

take it there are two collections at the postbox? 17:45 and 14:45

stocking= cover face to conceal identity. gloves worn not to reveal fingerprints.. turn gloves inside out and prints be on the inside of the glove...

If the gloves have a soft lining then you'll not get fingerprints off them, that technique only works for latex gloves, but you can get errant skin cells and hair on the gloves.

perhaps something happened in another city or another town miles away and the robber or the robbers mate coincidenly was passing through harrow and saw the postbox and just dumped them. heck of a job to find out what really happened.

Normal procedure is to dump guns in the river/lake/sea where they may not be found but dumping a gun in a postbox is just dumb, unless the police where actively chasing the suspects and even then it would've been better to put them in a bin.
