'WAIT a Minute Mr Postman'.. so the song goes but in the case of one postman on his rounds in Newbridge on Monday it wasn't a letter he had to hand over but his bike, writes Paula Campbell.
The postman was on his rounds in Allenview Heights when his bicycle was snatched from under him by a female Garda on the chase.

A witness account of the incident said the postman heard a voice saying 'stop this is a criminal offence'. At the same time a person ran by him followed by a garda who asked could she borrow his bike. She jumped on and took off but before doing so handed the postman his bag of letters .

A spokesperson for Kildare gardai, confirmed the incident, said it was
related to an immigration offence. "There was an arrest made on Monday," said the spokesperson. "The bike was handed back to the Post Office."

"The bike was handed back to the Post Office."

Presumably after it was suitably DNA tested :whistle

I can't believe the Garda made an arrest :nervous but if a PSNI officer tried to take my bike I'd tell them to FO and get their own (I saw a fat police man today who got out of breath just getting to his car :nervous ).
