POSTAL deliveries in Inverness could be severely disrupted if a row over new work rotas at the Strother's Lane depot escalates and workers ballot for strike action.

Managers have been brought in by Royal Mail from around the North to enforce new working hour rotas, which Inverness staff do not agree with.

It is understood local representatives of the Communication Workers Union have applied to national headquarters in London for permission to hold a strike ballot.

The controversial rotas involve new start and finishing times.

Local union representatives expect to hear back from headquarters in London within the next fortnight.
