POSTAL bosses have been slammed for delivering a second-class service to residents in Belgrano.
Darren Millar, Assembly Member for Clwyd West, has taken up the case of residents complaints at the poor services and has received an assurance from the Post Office that things will improve.
More than 90 disgruntled householders have registered their discontent with mail services in the area.
A Royal Mail spokesman told the Journal that they were aware of the issues and local management was putting it right and would be increasing staffing in the area.
The spokesman said: "We would like to apologise to our customers who have been adversely affected by inconsistent delivery times.
"Mail has been delivered each day to residents of the area but we accept this has on occasion been later than normal.
"We would urge and encourage our customers to contact our customer services centre on 08457 740 740 if they are experiencing any problems with their mail."
Resident Barbara Hopwood was so furious with her poor postal service she told voiced her concerns to Mr Millar. She said mail deliveries were often late, regularly delivered to the wrong address and sometimes missed out altogether.
Mrs Hopwood has kept a detailed log of her own postal service, which she claimed has worsened since the transfer of her regular postman to another area from January.
Her frustration has led to her drafting a protest letter, which she posted through her neighbours' doors, asking for signatures.
One hundred were returned with comments.
Mr Millar said: "I'm very disappointed that my constituents mail services appear to be getting worse in Belgrano – especially given the recent hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail."
The price of first and second class postage stamps rose by 3p from last week, drawing criticism as to why the Royal Mail have raised their prices during a recession.
Mr Millar said: "Residents in Belgrano pay the same for their stamps as people elsewhere in my constituency and they should be entitled to an equivalent delivery service.
"I am very concerned that mail is being delivered incorrectly and there can be no excuse for no deliveries at all, or for first class mail taking four or five days to arrive at it's destination," he added.
"The Royal Mail must take these complaints seriously and move quickly to improve the delivery services to my constituents."
